Full day excursion to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. Sixteen lakes, all connected through breathtaking waterfalls, create such beauty that only nature can create. The upper lakes, surrounded by dense forest and interconnected by numerous waterfalls, lie in a dolomite valley, while the smaller and shallower lower lakes lie in limestone and are surrounded by sparse yew bushes. The majority of the water in the Plitvice Lakes originates from the White and Black Rivers, which merge into one river south of Proscansko Lake. Plitvice Lakes are one of the most beautiful national parks in the world under patronage of UNESCO is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Croatia because the visitors are over and over again delighted by the experience: the sound of the waterfalls, crystal clear water of the lakes and thousands of rainbow colors created from spray of the waterfalls.
Animal life flourishes in the unspoiled conditions. The stars of the park are wolves and bears, but there are also deer, foxes, rabbits, boar, and badgers. There are over 120 different species of bird such as hawks, thrushes, owls, starlings, wild ducks, cuckoos, kingfishers and herons. You might also occasionally see ospreys and black storks. Flocks of butterflies flutter throughout the park.
