Not only vineyards but also the endless olive groves cover island Krk. Every year in October and November precious fruits are picked, to make olive oil of the highest quality. To get one litre (about 0,26 gallons) of olive oil, about 3000 olives (approximately 7 kilos) need to be picked! “Equipped” with buckets we climb to the olive groves to participate in the picking. Arrival and accomodation in the hotel, welcome cocktail and dinner.
Full day tour of Krk: After breakfast we go from Njivice and Malinska to Krk, the capital of the island. Sightseeing, then drive to Punat. Boat trip to the Franciscan monastery on the island of Košljun, located in the deep bay of Punat. Expert guided tour of the monastery and the Franciscan Museum. From here we go to Vrbnik, a town located high on a steep rock surrounded by Žlahtina vine grows.
After breakfast we drive to one of many olive gowes in the vicinity od Punat. Here we are greeted by olive experts, to introduce us to the olive picking process. We will also participate in the olive picking. It will not be easy – across the steep landscape you have to pick olives by hand, about 3000 olives (approximately 7 kilos) for one litre (about 0,26 gallons) of olive oil! After a hard day’s work a barbecue will be organized in the olive grove. A tasty lunch awaits us! We will, of course, get a bottle of precious, delicious oil. Return to the hotel. Dinner with music.
