The tour starts after breakfast, we drive to Pula, the 3000 years old town with its famous amphitheater, today economical and cultural center of the Istrian peninsula. In the centuries of old Roman imperial period (I to III. century) the most valuable monuments in Croatia were built in Pula, the most valuable and most famous monument is the Arena. Witness the amazing sixth biggest amphitheatre in the world. It was intended for combats between humans and animals and nowadays it is used for summer events and festivals. Classical Pula was stocked with all major achievements of Roman civilization, had its water supply and sewerage system, the forum, which is the administrative, commercial and religious center, capitol with temples (the forum), two theaters, a large city cemetery (mentioned by Dante in “Divine Comedy “), houses are rich with mosaics and marble.
After Pula a drive to a typical istrian farm for lunch. In the afternoon a visit to Rovinj – picturesque Istrian town situated on the magnificent coast of Istria, right below the Lim Fjord. Some say it is the most romantic place in the Mediterranean! Rovinj is the right destination for all of you seeking a sentimental atmosphere of the times that have gone by long time ago. After visiting Rovinj we return to Opatija.
